Based on the original 1900 novel, considered the first North American fairy tale, set on a farm in rural Kansas, the story's protagonist hero, Dorothy, an orphaned girl in her early teens, and her dog Toto, are taken by a hurricane along with their home. Sucked into the heart of the storm, the house spins until it lands and Dorothy realizes that she is no longer in Kansas and that she must have crossed the Rainbow. She finds herself in a place with blue skies, beautiful green hills, tall trees with juicy fruits and giant flowers in a wonderful landscape. Glinda, the pretty Witch of the North, appears right in front of her and tells her that she is in the magical Land of Oz and that her house has fallen upon the Wicked Witch of the East and killed her. Dorothy is declared a hero by the Munchkins, little people who suffered as prisoners of the Wicked Witch, but her green-skinned sister, the Wicked Witch of the West, rises to avenge her and reclaims her magical ruby slippers, now in Dorothy's possession. In her search for her way back to Kansas, Dorothy follows the Yellow Brick Road in search of the Emerald City, where the Wizard of Oz lives, the only one who can help her, according to Glinda. Along the way, she finds a talking Scarecrow, a Tin Man and a Cowardly Lion who join her in the search for the wizard, and each of them has a personal wish to ask him to fulfil. But on this journey they will have to face the Wicked Witch of the West, who aims to recover her sister's ruby slippers and use their power to become the most powerful being in Oz.

Following the yellow brick road, a girl passes a dark and scary forest at night, where she comes upon a huge feline figure leaping out of the darkness. Roaring furiously to scare her, she ducks behind
a large tree, but his dog Toto barks and growls at the beast pursuing him. Fearing for her little friend, she smacks the feline's nose and scolds it and, to his surprise, the seemingly ferocious animal has a nervous breakdown and starts crying and sobbing. With paws retracted and face frightened, Iron Studios brings the "Cowardly Lion - The Wizard of Oz - 1/10th Artist Scale" statue, featuring the frightened feline and wise character on a simple Yellow Brick Road base.

Iron Studios also brings deluxe versions with statues "Cowardly Lion Deluxe - The Wizard of Oz - Art Scale 1/10", with the anthropomorphic lion of Oz who is even afraid of himself, played by Bert Lahr ,
with his Medal of Courage on his chest, above a pedestal of the beautiful landscape of his Enchanted World, next to a tree from his forest, with the towers of the Emerald City in the background and the yellow brick road at his feet. He then joins the girl Dorothy and her friends in the search for the mysterious wizard, so that the lion can ask the wizard to make him brave.
