Factory Entertainment has announced the latest offering in its acclaimed line of prop replicas: a limited-edition, true-to-screen Black Manta helmet with lights and sound from the fan-favorite DCEU/Warner Bros. film, Aquaman.

In the film Aquaman, the character David Kane (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), plots a path of revenge after attributing the death of his father, Jesse Kane, to the Atlantean hero, Aquaman. Using his technical expertise coupled with Atlantean technology, David creates advanced battle armor and helmet, with the goal of exacting revenge against a formidable adversary. He is born "Black Manta".

The original object

Black Manta's suit was a combination of physical props and computer-generated effects (CGI). Its striking design, while scary in the face, presented some physical challenges for the cast and crew, namely limited visibility and movement. For much of its screen time, the helmet was entirely CGI, and when physical helmets were used, they were enhanced with CGI in post production.

The Replica

Factory Entertainment commissioned the prop house who created the original physical prop to make an additional original helmet specifically for this project. The first generation original was used to create molds and templates for the production of the replica propeller, ensuring maximum precision.

Each replica is crafted from durable heavy fiberglass and is accented with ABS plastic, metal, and polyresin parts. LED lighting and digital sound effects taken directly from the film have been incorporated into the replica to simulate the effects seen in the film.

Each numbered, limited-edition, museum-quality replica comes with a custom display stand incorporating helmet lighting controls, an AC power supply, an individual metal plaque, and a certificate of authenticity.
