Caleb and Camilla Fang are performers whose creations shock audiences and delight art lovers. The protagonists from an early age are their children, fundamental pawns of their provocative works often on the borderline between genius and madness. Because of these experiences, Annie (Nicole Kidman) and Baxter (Jason Bateman) now adults have moved away from their parents, and, albeit at a distance, lead parallel and highly problematic existences. The brothers are forced to return home to their eccentric parents when, suddenly, they disappear into thin air.
